The experience of practicing in a group is quite different from practicing on your own with a recording. I always suggest that people newer to meditation check out a local class with a reputable and experienced teacher if that’s possible.
Breathwork is practiced laying on your back. The 2 part breath is through an open mouth and this technique allows us to quickly bypass the thinking mind, offering a respite from the chatter and habit of trying to “ fix or figure it all out.” Quite quickly, we’re drawn into the direct sensations of the body. Tingling, vibration and aliveness as well as awareness of areas that might hold emotional content that’s ready to be released. You are in control of the experience. At any time you can slow down the breathing pattern, return to a natural breath and the sensations will even out or go back to normal. The music in these recordings is mellower than music that is used in live classes.
Please note that this practice is not suggested during pregnancy, for people with untreated glaucoma, cardiac or vascular issues or if there are any acute medical conditions. If you have asthma, it’s always smart to have your inhaler on hand.
